Full

Erika Mouynes is a geopolitical and investment strategist. She has operated at senior levels across three worlds: global finance, government, and academia.

On Wall Street, she spent nearly two decades as a C-suite executive at a multi-billion dollar investment firm and as a senior attorney at Shearman & Sterling LLP, structuring cross-border deals, M&A, and infrastructure projects across emerging markets, including the $2.3 billion financing package for the Panama Canal expansion. As Panama’s 62nd Minister of Foreign Affairs, she directed the country’s foreign policy through a period of systemic global disruption, negotiated early access to COVID-19 vaccines ahead of regional peers, and secured a presidential-level accord protecting the world’s largest marine biological corridor.

Today she leads Pixbae Advisory Strategies in New York, advising investors, corporations, and boards on integrating geopolitical analysis into capital allocation. She serves on the Board of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, chaired the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center from 2022 to 2025, and was a Resident Fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics in Spring 2024. Her research paper, The Certainty Business, grades a decade of institutional geopolitical and market forecasts. Her writing appears in the Financial Times, Project Syndicate, Harvard Business Review, Foreign Policy, and El País. She holds LL.M. degrees from UC Berkeley (as a Fulbright Scholar) and NYU, and a postgraduate degree in finance from NYU Stern.
